Why do we have to pay for upgrades?
emFAST Inc. continues to develop and enhance FACSys. For example, the recently released FACSys Fax Connector for Exchange 2000/2003, the enhanced rendering of PDF files using Adobe 5.05 or higher, the inbound delivery of TIF or PDF files, the SPAM FAX filtering functionality the new Licensing models and the archiving feature to allow customers to save inbound faxes to a network share or ftp site. Without an ongoing revenue stream there would be no way to fund these enhancements.
We are already on Version 4.8. Do we have to pay for a 4.9 upgrade?
If you purchased FACSys 4.8 after September 1, 2004 and have a proof of purchase or if you are on a F.A.S.T. Support agreement 4.9 is FREE. You will be charged nothing, but will be offered a F.A.S.T. 4.9 Support Agreement if you do not have one. Your old license files will not work with FACSys 4.9. emFAST will be providing new license files to all upgraded systems.
Otherwise, Upgrading to FACSys 4.9 carries a cost per server plus a cost per client license. Please contact your FACSys Authorized Reseller for a quotation. emFAST Inc. does not sell to end-users directly. We require a that you fill in an Upgrade Request Form with your current license information and your resellers name and contact.
emFAST Inc. will process your upgrade order through your FAR. emFAST Inc. will then provide you with a download site where 4.9 is available and will e-mail the new DAT files to you. Overseas customers may request this upgrade from their FAR or FAD.
To verify that you are already on version 4.8 please run the FACSys administrator program, go to Tools, System Diagnostics and send the System Diagnostics report to emfastsales@emfast.com.
Are upgrades really free with F.A.S.T.?
Yes. Once you have a F.A.S.T. support contract you may download the Version 4.9 free. Fulfillment is through download only.
Just send me the software, we won't need F.A.S.T.
Perfectly fine. You may order from your reseller. If you subsequently need F.A.S.T. support for the upgrade it will cost an additional $500.00 for a Single Incident*, or you may opt into a support agreement at that time. Please note that there will be no credit given for the upgrade you have already paid for. It is highly recommended to acquire your upgrade through the F.A.S.T. program and receive not only the upgrade but also one year of unlimited phone support.
* Effective March 25, 2004 - $500.00 for up to two hours maximum on Schedule 'A' items only.
My FAR still supports me. Do I need F.A.S.T.?
A. Many FARs continue to maintain a high level of in-house technical expertise and can support end-user FACSys sites. However, many can not or have gone out of business. F.A.S.T. was created to provide a 'home' for end-users who either do not have a FAR to work with, or would prefer an alternative source of support. The F.A.S.T. program is available to you through your FAR.
I am a FAR. Aren't you competing with me?
It is not the intention of F.A.S.T. to compete with qualified FAR's in any way. When the end-user fills out the support request form they are asked to name their FAR. If they do, the support request is forwarded to you. However, many customers do not know who their FAR is, or for various reasons are 'orphans'. emFAST Inc. was very concerned that these end-users would have no place to get technical support and so, created F.A.S.T. FAR's wishing to offer F.A.S.T. to enhance their own technical support department may inquire at emfastsales@emfast.com.
We acquired FACSys with our application (eg. AMS, Sagitta, FileNET or other Partner). Who do I go to for support?
FACSys partners offer varying degrees of support for the FACSys product they install with their applications. First check their Service Level Agreement or their software support program. If they have a support program for FACSys then you do not need F.A.S.T.
