emFAST strongly recommends that customers
currently running FACSys® v4.90 or V4.91 update their
installations with the latest patches available on our website.

Our engineers have come across certain flaws in FACSys v4.9
and v4.91 that may leave your organization vulnerable to security
and privacy issues. Although this risk is limited to very specific hardware
and software configurations, we strongly recommend that all organizations
running FACSys® 4.9 or 4.91 perform this update.

The latest version of FACSys 4.91 is publicly available on emFAST’s
website located at: http://www.faxserversupport.com/downloads/49download.aspx

Data breaches are no longer a thing of myth and legend; they have become a public relations nightmare for organizations of all types and sizes - in all industries.
The aftermath of the California data breach notification laws of 2003 has been far reaching; in the month of September alone, 36 organizations have reported data breaches. The number of compromised records ranging from ‘unknown’ to 50,000 at General Electric, and 64,000 at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

A recent study released by the Ponemon Institute has found that the total cost for organizations per lost record is $140 USD, and this number does not include the cost of implementing measures to eliminate the future risk of data loss, it is simply the cost of being reactive.

According to the Ponemon Institute, it will cost the University of Texas at San Antonio $8,960,000 to recover from this loss. It is unlikely that after this cost has been incurred the University will not implement a content and device encryption solution.
So why not save the $8.9 million cost and implement data and device encryption before a laptop is stolen or lost?

We at emFAST strongly recommend that you take the time to explore data and
device encryption. Before you do, take a look through your files and do an audit. Where are your sensitive files? More likely than not you will find them walking out
the door of your organization in the pockets of your staff – in USB storage, ipods, laptops, Blackberry.

Contact your emFAST account manager and find out how you can protect your organization from this risk – be proactive!
