The New Cortado Corporate Server 5.0 Supports BlackBerry Smartphones with BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)

At WES 2010 in Orlando, Florida, the mobile business expert Cortado will announce the release of a new version of its Cortado Corporate Server. The Cortado Corporate Server 5.0 version allows businesses to easily integrate the personal BlackBerry® smartphones of employees, freelancers, and project-specific contractors into their IT environment.

The immense popularity of BlackBerry smartphones isn't just confined to businesses. More and more individual users are also purchasing BlackBerry smartphones. If these smartphones are to be integrated into corporate IT, it can present a major challenge to the system administration. The reason: smartphones purchased by individuals can have their corporate email integrated with their BlackBerry smartphone through any Internet-enabled BlackBerry service plan.

The Cortado Corporate Server 5.0 offers a simple solution for the integration of personal BlackBerry smartphones into the infrastructure of a company. The new Cortado solution ensures that employees can have access to their corporate resources. Employees connected in this way will continue to have their existing BlackBerry Email and will also be able to access shared drives on the corporate network, view and manage files, send them by email, print, fax, scan, copy, or render them as PDF files from their BlackBerry smartphone.

As a special feature, the new Cortado Corporate Server offers a completely novel Active Directory search for network printers. With this new function, the user can search in a template for the name of the printer he needs, select this device, and immediately use it to print. A function primarily of interest for employees who do not just sit at a desk, but want to, or have to access printing resources regardless of the location.

"Integrating employees’ existing BlackBerry smartphones into corporate IT to give them additional capacity to work and act is one of today’s challenges for IT departments," said Thorsten Hesse, Manager Innovative Products for ThinPrint and Cortado. "This affects employees who want to use their personal BlackBerry smartphones for work too, as well as staff members who are only working on one project for a limited time period. Our latest Cortado solution enables IT to provide all employees with easy access to the necessary resources."

Cortado Corporate Server 5.0 is expected to be available in the second quarter of this year. BlackBerry smartphone users who want to get a first glimpse can download Cortado Workplace from BlackBerry App World™ for free and try out some of the features.
